Drink & bar services
There is so much to think about when it comes to the supplying of drinks for your wedding. This page will hopefully go some way to answering some of the questions you may have. However, because this is such a big area of the service we provide, if you cannot find the answer then please do e-mail us.
We have split this page into two, firstly for daytime drinks service and then secondly bar & evening drinks services. This should make it easier to find what you are looking for.
Daytime Drinks
If we choose Strawberry Fields to supply our daytime drinks, how do we control how much is consumed?
Any drink supplied by us is on charged on a consumption basis. We will only ever charge you for what is actually consumed. Of course, this doesn't mean it is limitless and guests can drink as much as they like. We will work with you to set initial limits for each part of the day (Reception, Wedding Breakfast & Toast), We will then work our way up to these limits. If on the day your guests don't consume the drinks allowed, we don't charge for anything not consumed/opened.
What happens if we reach the limits set?
The initial limit is set purely to control costs, we will always have extra drink on-site and available if required. However, we will always check with yourselves first if you wish to increase the limits. This way you are in complete control of what is being consumed.
Do Strawberry Fields offer inclusive drinks packages?
As standard we don't as we believe that you should only pay for the drinks that are actually consumed.
If we supply our own drinks do we have to use Strawberry Fields to serve?
Put simply yes.... Kingscote expect your chosen caterer to look after the service and management of any drinks service, we do make a charge for this service (as detailed on our Drinks & Service Page).
What period of the day is covered by the drinks service charge?
Our standard drinks service charge covers from the drinks reception until coffee is served.
What does this charge cover?
Our charge is made to cover all required glassware, staff, any garnishes including ice & removal of all rubbish at the end of the event. Strawberry Fields operate a recycling facility for all glassware & cardboard.
How is our drink managed?
We only open and serve what is required, however we ensure everyone gets as much as they need. What we want to ensure is that drink isn't wasted, so we always start with initial amounts and then top up or open extra as it is required.
What happens to any drink opened when coffee is reached?
Any drink that is open is left available for guests to consume. We don't open any additional drink after this time but invite guests to continue drinking any opened drinks to ensure they don't go to waste.
Where is our drink delivered and how does it get to Kingscote?
All drink should be delivered to our Keynsham head office, we will then pre-chill any drink requiring chilling and then on the day of your event we transport all drink to Kingscote Barn.
When should our drink be delivered?
We would like your drink to be with us at least 3 days prior to your event as we like to chill drinks for a minimum of 48 hours. You can deliver earlier than the 3 days, but we would prefer drink to be delivered no earlier than 10 days prior to your event unless pre-arranged with us.
Do we have to deliver the drinks ourselves?
Not at all.... All main wine merchants and supermarkets will deliver directly to us. Again, all you need to worry about is letting us know when it will be arriving.
How much drink should we supply?
Unlike most other caterers we will help you with the amount of drink that should be supplied. Once you have decided what you would like served, I recommend sending me an e-mail with the details and then I will come back to you with the quantities I would recommend. These amounts will be calculated on your known numbers, menu & timings so if any of these details change then I may need to revisit the quantities required. I also normally suggest amounts to ensure you don't run out but at the same time tryng to ensure you don't have a lot left at the end of your event.
Is there a limit to the amount and types of drinks we can supply?
Not overly, however we need to consider safely transporting the drink to Kingscote as well as all the other elements required for your day. With this in mind we do reserve the right not to accept all drink if we feel it is far in excess of what is required for your event.
What happens to any drink left at the end of the event?
Depending on where your drink came from there are a couple of options. If you have used a merchant who has supplied on sale or return and will collect any remaining drink, we will happily take the excess back to Keynsham for collection. If, however, you don't have it on sale or return we will give all drink back to you at the end of the event. We will even load it for you into vehicles.
Bar & Evening Drinks Service
When is the bar open and or available?
Generally, we only have the bar open from coffee, the reason for this is whilst you're paying us to serve your drinks, we feel it best that the guests consume your drinks. However, the bar is always set-up and ready to go so if guests request bar drinks during the day, then of course we will serve them. You can of course also request that the bar to be opened at any time.
Does the bar take credit/debit cards?
Our bars are now card/contactless device only (no cash is accepted) and we accept all major Debit & Credit Cards (not American Express) for drinks purchased at Kingscote's Bar.
Can we operate an account bar for our guests?
Yes you can, who can use and what is included on the account is up to you. You can limit the account to just yourselves, maybe the bridal party or all your guests. You can also stipulate what drinks will be available on the account from the full bar to maybe just Wines, Draught Beers and Soft Drinks. The account can also be financially limited if you wish so you don't get a shock.
Can we request drinks we'd like sold on the bar?
We will always look at requests, as long as we can source the product then it's not normally an issue. The only stipulation we have is that if it isn't a product we can sell after your event any product left will be sold to yourselves at cost. If this is the case, you will be notified of this in advance and an agreement will be reached on how much stock we will carry.
