Menu's & food service
The food that is served on your wedding day is one of the most important parts of your planning. At Strawberry Fields we try to have a totally flexible approach to your catering style.
Although we have quite an expansive menu pack this isn't everything we can do. Most of our clients choose from our pack, however a percentage each year will either tweak some of our dishes to suit their tastes or come up with their own complete menu.
This page should answer some of your questions regarding type and styles of menus, dishes and choices of catering for different parts of the day. However there are so many questions that can be asked regarding our food and service that this is the one area we do normally recommend dropping us a specific e-mail with your questions.
Should we serve canapes during our drinks reception?
We do highly recommend serving canapes during your reception. The number of canapes served does depend on a few factors of your day. For example, if you are having a civil ceremony at Kingscote then your drinks reception will last around 1.75 hrs. To keep your guests going during this time we recommend serving 4 canapes per person during this time.
How is the service of canapes managed?
We want to ensure that all your guests receive canapes during the reception. With this in mind we ensure that the waiting staff serving canapes circulate around the venue. All canapes are served on our slate platters and we even ensure that our bride and grooms are offered canapes.
What are the most popular styles of catering?
The most popular style is still a 3 course Wedding Breakfast consisting of a starter, main course and dessert. This traditional style is being tweaked by couples choosing to serve more canapes (7-8 per person) during the drinks reception and then not serving a starter and instead sitting straight for the main course. Other styles include buffets, Barbecues, Hog Roasts and Afternoon Teas. All of which we can cater for.
The pack is divided into menus, can we choose from different menus?
Yes you can, the dishes are split into menu's just to assist with giving initial pricing. If you want to choose from across our menus or come up with your own dishes then of course you can. Once you have an idea of the menu you would like to have you can drop me an e-mail and I will cost your specific menu choices.
Can dishes be tweaked and changed?
We make approximately 95% of everything we serve so it is very easy for us to tweak and adjust our dishes. It may be specific ingredients you want omitted from a dish or just the level of seasoning we will happily look as making your requested adjustments. This is one of the main reasons why we offer a complimentary tasting.
Are we able to offer our guests a choice of menu?
Our standard pricing is based on the serving of a single choice starter, main course and dessert on a 3 course wedding breakfast. Some clients would like to offer their guests a PRE-CHOSEN menu choice, this can be done but does increase the menu price as our staffing costs increase due to increased production and service on the day.
What happens about guests who are vegetarian or have dietary requirements?
You would choose a vegetarian option for each relevant course of your Wedding Breakfast. We can of course cater for almost all dietary requirements, we try to keep the menu as similar as possible but will substitute where required.
Do you cater for children?
You have a few options for babies and children, of course if they are too young to require catering then we make no charge for these guests. For children who require catering we can either offer the same adult menu but at 70% of the adult price or we have a children's menu within our pack.
Is Coffee & Tea Included?
For our Dinner, Buffet & Barbecue menus all include coffee and tea within our pricing. We don't include mints or chocolate with coffee, however this is something you are able to supply yourselves.
Do we have to cater for 100% of our evening numbers with any evening catering?
This does depend on what style of catering you choose and how many guests you have attending the evening reception. This is an area that would be discussed at our first meeting so I can recommend based on your individual event.
